26th October 2012
This November, our wonderful neighborhood, El Raval, hosts the annual Raval Culture Festival, and everyone is invited to join the fun! Happiness and colour fill the streets during this celebration and magic fills the air! Be Hostels is the perfect place to enjoy this event, in the heart of the Raval.
During the Raval Culture Festival, you will be able to enjoy workshops, street performances, theatre, fairs, exhibitions, routes, museum visits, films, and much more. This year will be the ninth edition of the Festival de Cultura del Raval, otherwise known as Raval(s). Just like every year, local residents and associations will fill the streets with a their cultural activities and art and offer all kinds of activities on every corner of the Raval: from the Rambla, to the theatres and museums.
Culture on the street
Performances by baton twirlers, Bollywood dancing, magic, capoeira, dance, and all kinds of music will be take place in different places throughout the neighborhood, such as Carrer de Sant Ramon and the Rambla del Raval, where children’s workshops will also be organised. If you don’t know the neighbourhood, why not take part in some of the activities that will get you moving around its streets, such as the Raval Gymkhana (a kind of treasure hunt), or visit some of the exhibitions being organised, such as “Memòria fotogràfica del Raval” [Photographic Memories of the Raval]. You can also join one of the tours and discover the neighbourhood’s historic buildings, latest transformations, or the Romanesque Monastery of Sant Pau. Or you could choose to visit some of the museums in the neighbourhood, such as the Maritime Museum in the Drassanes Reials, the old medieval shipyards, the CCCB (contemporary culture centre) or the MACBA (contemporary art museum).
Theatre and gastronomy
Theatre is another of the festival’s strong points. The Tantarantana, the Llantiol, the Teatre del Raval, the Condal, La Villarroel, the Goya and the Romea all have programmes with shows participating in the festival. Also be sure not to miss the gastronomic side of Raval(s) with this year’s “EnTAPA’t al Raval” initiative, in which you can enjoy a drink and a tapa for three euros at a number of bars in the neighbourhood. All this while listening to great live music.
Enjoy it in our Barcelona Hostels!
