Barcelona Hostels | El gato Botero

El Gato Botero is a symbol of Barcelona and the Raval. Hanging out the bottom of the Rambla de Raval, this statue of a cat seems to have found its place after having spent no less than 15 years looking for a home . El Gato Botero always receives his visitors with a smile.

Skate @ MACBA

Barcelona Hostels | Skate the Macba

With a few different sized legdes, some drops, a nice 5 set and the newly renovated big 3 set in the back, this place has a lot to offer the skaters who come here from all over the world every year.
That’s the other great part of skating at the MACBA: the vibe. Granted the atmosphere can change from day to day, but resident an visiting skaters are generally friendly and in a good mood. Who wouldn’t be while skating in Barcelona?

Walk around Port Vell

Barcelona Hostels | Walk around Port Vell

Port Vell is the waterfront harbour in Barcelona’s center and forms part of the Port of Barcelona. It was built as part of an urban renewal program prior to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Before this, it was a run-down area made up of empty warehouses, railroad yards, and factories. All that has changed and 16 million people now visit the harbour each year.

Port Vell (the Old Port) is now a focal point of Barcelona and a major tourist attraction. Many shops and places of interest are located there. These include: Maremàgnum (a mall with shops, a multiplex cinema, bars and restaurants), IMAX Port Vell, and Europe’s largest Aquarium– home to 8000 Fish and 11 sharks living in 22 basins filled with 6 million litres of sea water. A pedestrian walkway, la Rambla de Mar, connects Las Ramblas to Port Vell. This walkay is also a draw bridge, so that ships can enter and exit the harbour whenever they need.

Visit Boquería Marquet

Situated just a few paces off Barcelona´s most famous street, La Rambla, lies La Boqueria – a must-see for any visitor to the city. This world-renowned market (part of a strong market tradition in Barcelona) is a tourist attraction in its own right, thus illustrating the impact that it has on those who enter this sensorial paradise  after walking through its Modernist-influenced entrance way. La Boqueria is an intense and beautiful experience. First-time visitors are immediately struck by the sights, sounds and smells that come out from the vast variety of stalls.

There are numerous fruit stands situated at the front of the market, which display an almost overwhelming palate of colours. Find more info about Barcelona Markets here.
